Lochrann Chonamara

‘Lochrann’ is a celebration of St. John’s Eve, evoking the atmosphere of an ancient midsummer festival. The area around Maam Cross Mart will transform into a feast of Irish culture, climaxing with the lighting of the Bonfire. Fire, food, music, dance and theatre spectacle will be the ingredients for a night when a fierce beauty will spiral in praise of the living and the dead.

Fibin, one of Ireland’s most exciting theatre companies, in collaboration with Cumann Forbartha Chois Fharraige, and Clonbur Community Council, are inviting theatre groups in the Connemara region to take part in this celebration of Bonfire Night at Maam Cross.

Groups will collaborate with Fibin to create a performance and spectacle to animate the evening’s celebrations using elements of mask making and street theatre.
